Mamma Mia

I have to say, I went to this movie knowing nothing about it, other than they sang Abba songs. And since I love Abba songs, I was all for it.
This movie is cheesy. Totally cheesy. Funny, but cheesy. And Pierce Brosnan should not sing. Ever.
On the little rating thing it says that there are some sex-related comments. I'd say a little bit more than some. Lots of innuendo in this movie.
I felt like bursting out into song several times during the movie though. I love Abba, did I mention that? Meryl Streep is a good singer. Pierce Brosnan is not. (Did I say that already?)

I went visiting teaching to an old lady in my ward the other day and she was talking about how she'd seen this and how great it was. She was practically drooling over Pierce Brosnan (even though she admitted that he didn't sing that great).

So, would you recommend it or not?

I heard he was terrible too. I guess it's a good thing he's handsome. I wonder why they would cast him in a movie MUSICAL? They'd have to know how bad he sounded. I want to see it, buy I know I'd NEVER get Mark to go. Not only is it cheesy, but he can't stand Meryl Streep.

Yeah, definitely not a movie geared towards males. I think they cast Pierce because the movie wasn't a serious one, so maybe they wanted to give people something more to laugh at. And it worked - every time he started singing, my whole row of friends started giggling (and cringing...)

Oh, as far as would I recommend it...eh, if you really want to see it, sure. If you only want to hear the Abba songs, just go buy their CD.

I adored it. Cheesy, yes. But so fun. And no, Pearce Brosnan cannot sing. But I think it worked for this movie. Colin Firth sings pretty well, and Meryl Streep did a bang up job, as usual. I even admit I cried like a baby during Dancing Queen, although I'm not sure why I had that reaction?
