I'm not a Trekkie (I even had to google that to find the correct spelling), and was hesitant to even watch this movie, but it turned out to be better than I expected.
I didn't love young Captain Kirk-he was cocky and a jerk, and I was somewhat bothered that he had to be the one to save everyone.
But, other than that, it was an interesting story.

We saw this movie last month and it was really good. I didn't think I'd be all that in to it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I loved it--but I grew up watching Star Trek. The space/time continuum thing always confuses me a bit, but I loved seeing their interpretations of the "young" Kirk, Spock, Scottie, etc. They did a great job keeping the feel of the original series but with much improved special effects.
I love, love, love, this movie (Dan even bought it for me for Christmas). I grew up watching Star Trek TNG (the next generation), but I had no idea about the original characters so during the movie I had to keep asking Dan, "Are we supposed to know him?" Anyway, I laughed, I cried, I got excited. Two thumbs way way up.
